An independent musician from Santa Barbara, CA, JAMEY GESTON is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, (vocals, guitar, bass, piano, ukulele) and visual artist. At ten she started playing guitar, then self-taught piano, ukulele, and bass; at eleven she begin songwriting.  The renowned area creator is one of our region’s most promising young performers.  With her dark twist of earnest lyrics, haunting melodies and harmonies; Jamey represents a new generation of songwriters. Unlike many of today’s most interesting recording artists, her music can’t be easily categorized, she delivers her own blend of acoustic & electric sounds that create a dreamy, vintage feel with smart nods of current folk-pop that can easily throw you back to the sixties.

Compared to artists like Angel Olsen, Adrianne Lenker, as well as a "young” Joni Mitchell, she writes songs and makes music that paints a picture which can send a message in unconventional ways.

In addition to music, she is also a visual artist who is inspired by artists who push boundaries, as well as dark emotion. Her art combines a certain softness of feeling, delicate edges ,and introspective wonder. Her music coincides with art, using her designs to create merchandise, as well as album art and show posters.

No stranger to the stage, she has opened for some amazing artists/musicians such as; Judy Collins, Peter Frampton, Albert Lee, Jeff Bridges, Melanie Safka, HAIM & Dishwalla.  Going out on her first road tour May 2018 "Hello, Summer! Tour," proved to be challenging and fun as she hit the southwest, starting with 3 shows in Santa Barbara then stopping in Scottsdale, El Paso, Austin (2), Shreveport, Dallas, Albuquerque, & Flagstaff. The experience was more than she expected and it only fueled her more "to get outta town and travel with my music."

In January 2017 she released her first single, "Malibu" and received favorable reviews.  Enthusiastic about her first release, she moved on to release her second single "Sonic Baby"  May 1, 2018, and is currently working in the studio finishing her EP. Release date TBA.

You can practice and prepare your whole life but you can't plan a performance like this. It was incredible and the crowd was silent the whole time. An honor to share a stage with you.

“This year’s Avocado Festival Main Stage shows included a breakout performance by local songwriter Jamey Geston. The seasoned Carpinteria teen showcased her rhythm guitar skills and captivating vocal style. She’s a platinum blond who knows how to bend notes. It seems this young vocalist has found her sound.”

“She’s already showing a sense of poise and promise that belies her age. Geston’s voice is sweet, powerful, and surprisingly nuanced. She name-checks everyone from The Kooks to Joni Mitchell as influences (we hear traces of Vanessa Carlton and Regina Spektor) and pens her own songs to boot. Oh, to be young.”

Aly Comingore, Pop Culture Editor,

Santa Barbara Independent Magazine

... "a dynamic performer and a prolific songwriter. ... She showed confidence, maturity and incredible stage presence as she performed solo with her guitars, ukelele, and piano. ...Geston makes each cover she does her own, and covers a wide range of artists. ...Geston is a seasoned professional with a long career ahead in the music business.”

Robert Leggett, LA Music Critic

"I was truly impressed by the way she carried off a solo effort on the same stage that had played host to Tower of Power, the Legends of Rock and the California Transit Authority. If she continues to grow as she has this past year, she has the skills to be a mega star.” ...she owned the stage and turned in one of the finest performances, making this NAMM the best ever for live music.”

Robert Leggett LA Music Critic

"Solo. A girl, and a guitar. ... Plays both guitar and uke with a driving, aggressive right hand... that makes the instrument work hard to establish a hard edge and cascading rhythm...a disquieting, dark counterpoint to the girl-song sing-song that no one that young has done since an early Joni Mitchell. ... To list all the great artists that played at NAMM last week, you’d need about 10 yards of screen. But none had a better platform than this girl had.... A small victory for a new voice.”
